Who Needs Video, Right?
Does every business, brand, and organization NEED video? Yes. Definitely. Especially, if you're asking this question. God help you. Wait, let me try first.
Fun fact, video is everywhere. All kinds of videos, for all kinds of reasons, on all kinds of platforms. And like bacon, everything's better with video. Also, the "numbers are in" and it's super clear –– people LOVE them.
If you're not convinced video is relevant and necessary, maybe it's because you're not sure what type of video you need. Ads? Promos? Animated? Actors? Narrated? Talking head? 5 seconds? 5 minutes? Good question! The answer is yes. And hear me clearly say, it's not one size fits all. It ALWAYS depends on your goals (and to a lesser extent your resources). But what's becoming all too common, sadly, in a digital world filled with "moving pictures" (or "movies" as they're more commonly known), not many pictures are all that moving. Style over substance. Pixels over story. Which is just unbelievable. Given our modern thirst for authenticity.
It's not all that difficult to get a person's attention; but keeping it? NOTHING DOES IT BETTER THAN STORY. Move the heart. Motivate the mind. Story is the BEST way to connect with your audience. Period. And ultimately that's why you're in business. To connect with people.
Slapping together a gorgeous video is not nearly as important as being memorable. Likes are not sales (hello Facebook ads). Likes are not donations. But story? Film a good story and you're in people's conversations instantly. Stories follow buyers, clients, and donors. Stories are shared. Stories stick. Because people want authentic content.
